A 10 trillion VND paper pulp mill in Quang Ngai province is preparing to start operating.
The VNT19 paper pulp mill project, invested by VNT19 Paper-Pulp Joint Stock Company, is expected to begin operating in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Hien recently inspected the progress of the VNT19 paper pulp mill project.
According to the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, the factory is located in Binh Phuoc commune, Binh Son district, with a designed capacity of 350,000 tons of paper pulp per year in phase 1. The total investment capital for this project is about 10 trillion VND.
The project is expected to start operating in the fourth quarter of 2024. The mill will consume 1.4 million tons of wood chips per year, equivalent to about 55-60% of the volume of wood chips currently exported through Dung Quat port.
As a result, the factory will contribute to reducing the export of raw wood chips, increasing the value of planted forests for production.
“When the factory begins production, it will need about 1,000 workers, mainly locals. The total value of taxes and fees that the factory contributes to the annual budget is estimated to be between 800-1,000 billion VND,” the Quang Ngai People’s Committee said.
The People’s Committee of Quang Ngai province also stated that to prevent environmental pollution caused by industrial wastewater generated during the paper production process, the VNT19 Paper Mill Joint Stock Company has invested in a completely new wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 50,000 m3 per day and night.
Additionally, this treatment plant was designed, supplied with equipment, monitored, installed, tested, and transferred by Aquaflow Company from Finland, ensuring that the treated wastewater meets the industrial paper and pulp wastewater standards (QCVN 12-MT:2015/BTNMT).
VNT19 Paper and Pulp Joint Stock Company said that the project has completed 75% of the workload so far. Specifically, compensation for site clearance has reached 95%, design 95%, procurement 75%, maintenance and repair 80%, construction 85%, and installation about 70%.
