BSK powder futures prices sharply dropped in the Chinese market

According to data released by the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SFE), the July 2021 delivery BSK powder price dropped to $147/ton, down to $843/ton after deducting 13% VAT and 120 CNY/ton for logistics costs. This price is much lower than the current price of all imported BSK powders in the Chinese market.

The Chinese government monitors import activities to limit inflation and unreasonable price hikes, affecting the domestic consumer market. This move will reduce prices not only for paper powder but also for many other products.

This could also cause factories in China to face shortages of raw materials, especially as the international transportation crisis is still encountering many difficulties.

Although demand has slowed, most paper powder prices remain stable in the Chinese market. Russian pine and BSK powder are stable at $960-980/ton and $960-970/ton, respectively. South American BHK powder is stable at $760-780/ton.

In the resale market, NBSK powder prices dropped by $84/ton compared to the mid-May price, at $928/ton, after deducting VAT and logistics costs of 150 CNY/ton. The resale price of South American SBSK powder also dropped by $32/ton to $672/ton after deducting VAT and logistics costs, much lower than imported products.
