Top 100 brands with the most printing service usage in 2023
The United States is the leading printing market in terms of output and value, and participating in the global supply chain of US companies also brings competitive advantages and high profitability. To provide information on the purchasing power of this market in 2023, Hoang Vuong Paper Packaging introduces the “Top 100 Print Buyer” report published by Printing United Alliance in December 2022 to our readers.
Let’s look at the ranking and analysis of “100 major customers in the printing industry for 2023” to orient your target market and optimize potential opportunities.
Top 100 brands with the most printing service usage in 2023
Supply chain! The concern of both sellers and buyers in 2023 is how to cope with shortages leading to hoarding and high inflation. Due to market distortions, the calculations in the PI-100 report for the top 100 customers in the printing industry in 2023 are based on the US dollar (USD) value in 2021.
Nothing is surprising about it; Logistics/Transportation of goods can overcome the best economic imbalances by transferring actual and anticipated costs to customers. The number one position in this field is held by the United States Postal Service (85.1 billion dollars, +6%; with over 2.1 billion dollars in print product purchases, up 6%). Priority mail, small package delivery, international mail services, and international mail will excel in the next two years as competing carriers begin to have additional agreements.
In the second position is Pepsico Inc. (83.8 billion dollars, +16%; with 2 billion dollars in print product purchases, up 13%), the most diverse marketer of beverages and snacks – and the company with the greatest need for flexible packaging, metal decoration, and retail POS. Pepsico Inc’s biggest competitor is Coca-Cola, ranking 39th (47.6 billion dollars, +16%; with 0.6 billion dollars in print product purchases, up 33%)
In the retail industry, Amazon (464.8 billion dollars, +9%; with 1.5 billion dollars for printing, +11%), ranked third, purchases more than a quarter of print products compared to the most significant discount retail revenue in the world. In eighth place, Walmart (605.6 billion dollars, +4%; with 1.2 billion dollars in print product purchases, up 0%) is limited by market saturation.
In the Entertainment sector on the PI-100 list, the largest is Walt Disney Company ranking fourth (76.6 billion dollars, +17%; with 1.4 billion dollars in print product purchases, up 4%). The launch of Disney Plus aims to expand the transactional functions of 150 million followers, a Mickey Mouse Club B2B. Also in this sector, ranked 95th, with a significant increase in advertising print purchases, is Warner Bros. Discovery Inc (15 billion dollars, with 0.2 billion dollars in print product purchases).
In the Health and Healthcare sector, 24 entities in the top 100 list will spend a total of 15.6 billion dollars on print product purchases. Fifth on the list, Procter & Gamble (79.9 billion dollars, +1%; with 1.4 billion dollars in print product purchases) leads, thanks to marketing activities and six core product lines. Two sectors (family care and beauty) have an advantage, with over 55% of revenue and a 1/5 growth in packaging and media purchases.
The last two positions on the top 100 list are in the Tourism/Hotel industry: position 99 is the American Automobile Association (5 billion USD, +16%; with 0.2 billion USD spent on printed products, up 4%) and position 100 is Marriott International Inc. (23 billion USD, 0%; with 0.2 billion USD spent on printed products, no change).
Overall, this top 100 list also reflects the general market, where leading companies’ demand for printed products tends to increase.
Managers must be willing to participate in market management scientifically by monitoring and directing their markets and customers. In the past, the choice of products/markets was mainly overlooked, even among the largest printing companies operating as the supply chain’s final providers. Identifying customers, growth rates, and market sectors an organization can provide allows us to participate more strongly in the global market’s increasingly open supply chain of printed products.
